Easter is quickly coming closer and closer as the day for church and family is about two weeks away. One of the coolest things about Easter is all of the adorable foods that you can make around this time.
Even past Easter if you get in the spring mood and wanna make a cute snack for a kids party. All the creative Easter bunny and springy themed foods are so much fun to make and create!
In this post, I’m going to describe a homemade recipe that j decided to create after seeing a cute picture of something like this on Pinterest, an edible birds nest, complete with eggs and everything of course! This is super easy to make and adorable as well as yummy c:
The main portion, the nest part will be made out of Rice Krispie treats. This will be fairly easy to make and shouldn’t take too long. A recipe that I found online for the Rice Krispies from this website is as follows;
Original recipe makes 24 squaresChange Servings
1/4 cup butter
4 cups miniature marshmallows
5 cups crisp rice cereal

Melt margarine in large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well-blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly and firmly in buttered 13 x 9 inch pan. Cut into 2 x 2 inch squares when cool.
You can also find different ones for different health and diet preferences such as ones that are dairy free and ect.
Once you make the treats, you need to shape them. You can do that by taking the bottom half of a plastic Easter egg and wrapping the rice Krispy around it to get the pot like shape and than taking it off as best you can. This gives it the really good nest shape and is pretty easy so that they all look very similar.
Now for the fun part, the fillings. For the leaves and grass in the nest I would suggest cutting some coconut into little thin strips and adding some green food colouring to give it the look of grass. Than you can take one of the many different kinds of egg shaped small candies and place it on top of the grass and you have a nest! You can use whoppers, m&m’s or any other candy that you find. If you want you can also place a peep on the very top of it, if that’s what you like. Happy Easter and happy cooking!
